Connecticut Appellate Law Firm is proud to share that founder, Megan Wade, recently spoke at the University of Connecticut School of Law on a panel titled “Hot Bench, Cool Careers: Connecticut Appellate Attorneys.” The event, hosted by the Connecticut Moot Court Board on September 30, 2025, brought together practitioners to discuss career paths in appellate law.
About the Event
The program was designed to demystify appellate litigation and introduce students to the range of professional opportunities within Connecticut’s appellate bar. With the appellate community in Connecticut being small but highly engaged, the panel offered law students an important chance to learn about this specialized practice area and to begin building professional connections.
Megan Wade’s Perspective
Attorney Wade shared practical advice for students interested in pursuing appellate careers, focusing on three key steps:
- Build Essential Skills
- Take legal research and writing courses.
- Strengthen creative and critical thinking abilities.
- Gain Hands-On Experience
- Seek internships and externships that involve appeals in firms, nonprofits, or government agencies.
- Participate in an appellate clinic to gain real-world briefing and argument experience.
- Build Your Network
- Connect with appellate practitioners for mentorship and guidance.
- Join professional organizations, such as the Connecticut Bar Association (free for students).
“The appellate bar in Connecticut is small, but welcoming. By building skills, gaining early experience, and connecting with practitioners, law students can open the door to meaningful careers in appellate law,”
